"History
is His Story and My Story remains a Mystery..." - Dr. Jawanza
Kunjufu
It
is important to know who you are. The culture and heritage of your
people is key to your survival on this Earth. One must be in touch
constantly with the accomplishments of their ancestors in
order to be aware of their own capabilities in their lives. The
life and times of many great people are discussed in schools and
places of worship everyday. These stories produce successful people
because one identifies themselves with them.
Who
do you identify with? Do you even know who you can identify with?
Many people have sacrifice their lives (in one way or another) so
we would have the choice to know. There are many now who believe
the struggle is over. Brown v. The Board of Education argued against
separate but equal education. That fight was won...right? Or are
we now separated from OUR education. Now no one is saying organize
a march on Washington or protest your local educational institution
for mis-educating the "negro", but the chain of denial
and ignorance must stop.
Africa
is a great Continent full of magnificent countries and cultures
that established the world. Any person, from the time of their own
enlightenment has an obligation to share with all who are still
sleeping.
